Our vision is to see the Gospel transform everything – ourselves as individuals, our church, our city, and the world.
By 2020, we desire to see that vision expressed in our church as a body of 7,500 people, gathering in 5 locations, and planting churches all over the world that draw many more un-churched people into a relationship with God.
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
—Revelation 21:5
Community happens when people make space for one another in their lives. New community happens when new space is made and new relationships are forged. This starts at the cross, where Jesus makes space for all who will come to enter into community with our God. It spreads throughout our lives, making space for one another, and through our church as we make room for new community and new relationships.
Jesus says: I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. (John 4:35)
Sojourn has two primary expressions of community – Gathering and Groups. We began with one large Gathering and four Groups. We have grown into 1,600+ people at five gatherings in two locations, and more than 80 groups meeting all over the city. In the Gathering, we preach and celebrate the gospel through song, sermon and communion. In Groups, the gospel is worked out in the intimacy of close relationships.
We desire to see more and better large expressions spring up in our region. More – to enable more people to gather where they are to praise God as they are as He raises them up to be all He intends them to be. Better –because we acknowledge that God is not finished with us and will continually strengthen us to better worship Him.
Practically, this will be worked out in three focused initiatives:
Join the elders each Tuesday morning in April from 6:30 to 7:30 to pray for renewal and gospel transformation throughout Louisville and Southern Indiana. Meet at either the Midtown campus or East campus.
Here are the architectural drawings for what we want to do to the current St. Vincent’s cathedral on Shelby and Oak, in order to transform this into the Sojourn Gathered worship space for our Midtown campus:

We are looking for stories of how Jesus is using the ministries of Sojourn to transform lives. Please share your story in writing, on video, or in audio and we will regularly post them on the Travelblog.
