Our vision is to see the Gospel transform everything – ourselves as individuals, our church, our city, and the world.
By 2020, we desire to see that vision expressed in our church as a body of thousands of people, gathering in locations throughout the Louisville area, and planting churches all over the world that draw many more un-churched people into a relationship with God.
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
—Revelation 21:5
In September of 2007, my family and I were looking for a new church family. We visited Sojourn thinking it would be one of many churches we’d visit before settling down. I was very skeptical about the “type” of people I heard went to Sojourn and so I knew I just wouldn’t fit in. After all, I had heard the church was very “Bardstown-Road-ish” and I was anything but.
From the moment we walked in the door, I could just tell something was different. There were people serving everywhere and they actually looked HAPPY to be serving. Is that possible? From the beginning of the service to the end, I was amazed. The teaching was solid and biblical. The music was personal and involved. The people were a family…
My husband and I got involved with the counseling ministry. We both have degrees from seminary so I thought we’d be the ones sharing all of our wisdom to others. I had no idea that we’d be the ones learning and growing in Christ daily.
For almost a year now, I’ve struggled with health issues. In December, I was finally diagnosed with BPPV (a type of vertigo). Right before I began treatments, I realized I was going to need a great deal of help being a wife and mommy to two small children. In a matter of TWO days, I had friends and family from Sojourn committed to serving our family for THREE weeks! I was (and still continue to be) amazed by the family atmosphere of this body. Christ calls us to live in community. I never understood what that meant until I joined Sojourn. And now I can imagine it no other way!
This is only a sampling of the ways Sojourn has blessed, grown, encouraged, pushed, led, and motivated me as a believer. I am so grateful the Lord brought Sojourn into our lives and pray we can be as much of a blessing to the body as it’s been to us!
