Our vision is to see the Gospel transform everything – ourselves as individuals, our church, our city, and the world.

By 2020, we desire to see that vision expressed in our church as a body of thousands of people, gathering in locations throughout the Louisville area, and planting churches all over the world that draw many more un-churched people into a relationship with God.

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

Upon moving back to Louisville after college graduation, I began looking for a gospel-centered, worship-filled church that wouldn’t settle for one day church gatherings or mediocre treatment of God’s Word. Providentially, I ran into an old friend who visited Sojourn and recommended I try it out. All I knew about Sojourn was that a gathering of people met on Sunday evenings in the Highlands. I honestly didn’t even think it was a church; I thought it was just another program put on by a church to attract young adults.

When I visited Sojourn the following Sunday, I was overwhelmed by the commitment to God’s Word, to His people, and to the community. This was a legit church! I remember walking out of the service with an overflowing heart, thinking the Lord would do great things through these people and that I wanted to be a part of His plan for Sojourn and this community.

As I have grown with Sojourn, it has been astonishing to see God’s grace. The body of Christ at Sojourn has ministered to me and allowed me to serve them in more ways that I can recount. One thing that I will always cherish about this grouping of God’s people is that they are absolutely committed to God and His Word. The gospel is the fuel behind everything. As God has grown me in the last few years, I’ve been regularly confronted with my lack of gospel-centeredness and my need for His grace.

Growing up in Louisville, I had a mediocre and cynical attitude towards the city. I frequently found myself thinking, “Nothing will radically change this city or the people.”

Again, the gospel slapped me in the face to confront me with my lack of faith in His ultimate plan to transform hearts. Over and over we see in His Word that He renews that which is lifeless; He will surely do this in the city of Louisville! Where I lacked a deep-rooted compassion and love for what God could do in this city, He has renewed my mind and heart with joyful anticipation for what He will do.

I will journey with this group of people for as long as God allows. It is a blessing to be a part of a church that desperately loves the Lord, His people and this city. May God’s grace continue to abound!
