Our vision is to see the Gospel transform everything – ourselves as individuals, our church, our city, and the world.

By 2020, we desire to see that vision expressed in our church as a body of thousands of people, gathering in locations throughout the Louisville area, and planting churches all over the world that draw many more un-churched people into a relationship with God.

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

When Bethan and I moved here from Texas, we were dry, burned-out and spiritually exhausted. Worse yet, we didn’t even know it. Our first Sunday was an awakening. We entered The 930 (which Sojourn had just begun to use) on a Sunday evening and didn’t look like anyone else. Everyone had beards, tats, and dark clothing (I thought the beards were killer, though). Bethan whispered to me, “I don’t think we’re cool enough to come here.”

But from the time the service began till the ending benediction, we knew we were at home with dear brothers and sisters. The liturgy was so gospel-centered, so God-exalting. The music was theologically rich and made us think deeply as we sang. The sermon felt raw, like a group of real people were dealing with real truths they saw in the Bible. We almost immediately knew we had forgotten the gospel, and its movements in the service were so lucid that we decided we had found a home. We wanted a lot more of what we were seeing and hearing.

Everything since then has been a sure sign of God’s grace. We have lived every moment of our lives in Louisville alongside our Sojourn family members (thanks to Community Groups), experiencing true gospel-community. The relationships we have built at Sojourn will, without a doubt, last a lifetime. We’re even stealing some of the folks to go with us to Philadelphia to plant a church!

There are many pieces of our lives that we know are cross-purchased gifts from Jesus. Sojourn is one of them, and we praise God for it.
