Our vision is to see the Gospel transform everything – ourselves as individuals, our church, our city, and the world.
By 2020, we desire to see that vision expressed in our church as a body of thousands of people, gathering in locations throughout the Louisville area, and planting churches all over the world that draw many more un-churched people into a relationship with God.
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
—Revelation 21:5
After college I moved to Louisville, not really sure of what I was going to be doing but confident that this is where I was suppose to be. I had prayed specifically to find a church after college that had solid teaching, who went beyond their doors, who were invested in this city; a church where members lived out the great commission, and pursued one another in fellowship.
Coming from an intense college ministry and a great local church in college I thought it’d be easy to find a church with these characteristics. I didn’t realize that my first year out of college would be a hard year of adjustments. For the first two years in Louisville the Lord placed me in a great church where I was fed weekly but one thing was missing. At the time I thought I could get by without it because I heard a great message on Sunday. The thing that was missing was community. I craved it and needed it.
While I had few people invested in my life outside of church my main source of fellowship came on Sundays. This was a huge adjusted coming from being able to have it whenever I needed it to working 40 hours a week in an environment where not everyone cared to get to know me or who I was outside of work.
I had close friends that were already involved at Sojourn so I would visit with them on Sunday nights. When my pastor and his wife were leaving they encouraged me to go to Sojourn because they knew I would be fed there spiritually but that there were also people like me working 40 hours a week with a like minded vision.
So at that time I started regularly attending Sojourn. The Lord quickly provided fellowship for me as I began to meet people who also craved community. Shortly after I started coming, I went through membership classes where I was so excited about the vision of our church. I then got involved with a community group where the Lord had sweetly reminded me of how much I need fellowship. I’m so thankful to be apart of a community were people are committed to the gospel and daily battling through life with me by pointing me to the gospel.
